Comparison

Drumbitious and Its Alternatives

Last updated:

There are several ways to plan and track drum practice. This page compares Drumbitious with three other drum practice apps and with a classic paper practice journal.

Drumbitious is built by Verena Zaiser, who also wrote this page. To keep the comparison fair, the information about the other apps comes only from their own App Store and Google Play pages, checked on October 9, 2026 (US store). "Not mentioned on store page" means the store page does not say; the app may still have the feature. App features change often, so check the store pages for the current state.

The options in short

Drumbitious

A drum practice planner and journal. You build practice plans from the exercise library or your own exercises, attach PDFs, audio, video and images, and run a session that goes through all exercises with the built-in metronome and practice timer. Each session is logged in the practice diary, and the statistics show your BPM progress. Offline use is part of Premium.

Drum Journal: Practice Routine

According to its App Store page, Drum Journal puts warm-ups, rudiments and YouTube lessons into one timed daily routine, logs every session automatically and shows streaks and timing trends. The page also describes a microphone-based sticking coach for practice pad work, a metronome with backing tracks, and exercises shared by other drummers.

Chops: Drum Rudiments

According to its App Store page, Chops is a rudiment trainer covering the 40 PAS rudiments with kit variations, exercises, workouts and courses. It has a metronome that adjusts tempo and time signature, remembers your top speed for each rudiment and shows progress charts.

Drum Coach

According to its store pages, Drum Coach offers AI practice plans that update as you play, a library of curated exercises and songs, a metronome built into its routines, weekly stats and the option to share recordings with teachers for feedback.

Paper practice journal

A notebook works without a phone, battery or account, and you can lay it out exactly the way you want. Everything is manual: you keep a separate metronome and timer next to it, and you write down tempos and practice times yourself. If you want to start on paper, use the printable weekly drum practice plan template.
