Weekly Drum Practice Plan Template

Last updated:

A practice plan answers one question before you sit down: what exactly will I play today, and for how long? This template gives every session the same four blocks and a place to write down the tempo you aimed for and the tempo you actually reached. Print it, fill in your exercises for the week, and keep it on your music stand.

How to use the template

  1. Pick one goal for the week, for example "clean paradiddles at a faster tempo" or "learn the groove of one song". Write it at the top.
  2. Fill in the four blocks with exercises that serve the goal. The default split below is for a 30-minute session; scale the minutes to the time you have.
  3. Set a start tempo for each exercise that you can play cleanly, and write it under "Target BPM".
  4. Log what happened: the tempo you reached while it still sounded clean, the minutes you practised and a short note. After a week you can see which exercises moved and which need more time.
